I was thrilled when this collab hit my inbox! Getting a fun and summery brief in during the begining of spring when everthing is cold and a little miserable really warms the spirit in a way that only days relaxing by the lake in the summer can.
Background
Stylist Magazine, popular for its engaging quizzes, wanted to enhance its summer-themed quiz with visuals that would showcase the essence of Baileys' latest product —Baileys Pina Colada. The aim was to create a series of illustrations that would both reflect the unique vibe of Baileys and resonate with readers all captured in a fun online quiz about the readers ‘Summer personality’
Baileys Pina Colada
Baileys Pina Colada is a twist on the classic tropical cocktail. Combining the creamy, smooth texture of Baileys Irish Cream with the fruity flavors of pineapple and coconut, it offers a luxurious, indulgent taste of summer in a glass.
The Brief
Stylist Magazine needed illustrations that captured the relaxed, fun-loving vibe of Baileys Pina Colada. The visual needed to bring the spirit of summer and align with the magazine’s aesthetic.
Approach
I wanted the work to be a celebration of coming to gether on a hot day when the grass is getting a little yellower but also to dip into the feeling of solitude you experience when you plop yourself down in a gorgeous spot with a book by the water.
colour palette
I developed a colour pallete that was going to bring a soft and playful summer feeling but also have notes of the creamy baileys flavors.
When there’s multiple illustrations I like to land on a pallete that feels consistent but allows flexibilty for the mood to change through each illustration.
The result of this collaboration came together in a series of dynamic illustrations that brought together multiple characters and scenes in a fun, engaging way, staying true to the brand. I love the character and charm illustration can bring to an advertising campaign. To bring this project to a close, I enjoyed a Baileys Pina Colada - perks of the job.
